Denim on Denim on Denim

Over the last few years, there's been a rise and a shift in the way we as a society wear denim. No longer are we confined to just a basic pair of jeans, or a denim jacket. Patchwork, embroidery, frayed & dropped hems, colored denim - there are more options than you can even count when it comes to this generations true blues.

For this post, I've gathered up all my favorite denim trends we're seeing for Spring 2017, as well as where you can find them (click the store/site names under each photo for a direct link to the product!).

The Cropped Flare

Kut from Kloth Belle Mild Wash Cropped Flare - $89 - on sale at Macy's for $45

High Rise Flare Crop
Need Supply & Co. RE/DONE High Rise Flare Crop - $310 - Needsupply.com

The Crop Flare! Exactly as the name states, the cropped flare is a hybrid of the crop jean and the flare. Perfect for girls that fall on the shorter end of the height spectrum, these jeans are a Spring go-to for all the fashionistas out there. They're also super flattering on girls with hips, thighs, and ass like me! Ha ha. AND a great way to show off a killer pair of shoes.

The Fringe Hem

Missguided Riot High Waisted Fray Hem Jean - $48 - Asos

WM3 Cropped Straight-Leg Fringe Jeans, Mazzy
WM3 Cropped Straight-Leg Fringe Jeans, Mazzy - $325 - Neiman Marcus

Similar to a frayed hem, just a little neater, the fringe hem is a great way to add some fun to an otherwise plain pair of jeans. Pair with some slides or tennis sneakers and you're ready for anything!

The Embroidered Jeans

Flower Embroidered Distressed Skinnies - $48 - Make Me Chic

Embroidered Denim Pant - $1,090 - Gucci

Taking it back to the 70's with embroidered denim. I'm LOVING this trend right now. Almost every brand, from high end to low, is doing their own variations of it. Skirts, jackets, overalls - any & all denim is getting the embroidery treatment. The best thing is, this look can fit into anyone's personal style in one way or another, so you're bound to find something that works for you!

The Staggered Hem

Distressed Denim Skinny Released Hem Bottom in Amateur Hour - $88 - Revolve

811 Mid-Rise Skinny in Mesmeric - 198 - J Brand

The staggered, or "released" hem, has become very popular in the last year or so. Being shorter in the front and longer in the back, it's like the mullet of the jean world. Just like the fringe hem, this look is a great way to jazz up some plain jeans you've gotten bored with. The messy, uneven look also means you can totally DIY these, & no one would ever know.

The Patchwork

Love Moschino patchwork frayed jeans
Love Moschino Patchwork Frayed Jeans - $244 - on sale at FARFETCH for $122

Patchwork-Front Flared-Leg Jeans, Blue
Victoria Victoria Beckham Patchwork-Front Flared-Leg Jeans - $505 - Neiman Marcus

Another 70's throw back, the patchwork jean. There's a multitude of options when it comes to this style. Patches just over the knees, scattered around, or a an entirely patched pair. And, just like the embroidered kind, these go with anything!
The Ruffle/Frill Hem
MSGM Distressed Ruffle-Trimmed Jean - $285 - Net-A-Porter
Paige Rafaela Jean with Ruffle Hem - $239 - ShopBop

The ruffle jean is the newest kid on the block, and bar far the cutest! Perfect for the girly girl, or the tomboy trying to add a bit of girly to her look. The ruffle jean, or "frill hem" jean also comes in a ton of variations from a small simple ruffle, or frill, at the hem, to layers of ruffles that start at the knee and flow down to leg to the foot.

Which jean trend are you most excited about? Judging by how the weathers been lately, I have a feeling jeans are gonna be making their round for a few more months (don't worry, jean shorts are coming soon!). Make sure you check back soon for more fashion/style updates!

In the meantime, as always, keep smiling & stay SUNNY!
