F'real F'real: My name is Joslynn, and I am a rambler ...
I like to talk. A lot. When I'm having a conversation, or trying to make a point, I tend to ramble. A lot. Like on and on and on. Sometimes I even forget what I was talking about, or what point I was trying to make! But it wasn't always that way ...
When I was younger, every time I'd get home from school or on weekend days, I'd talk my moms ear off, telling her stories about what went on during the week. She'd of course listen to me, but after about 30 minutes of me rambling on and on she'd finally say "nina callate ya!" which in Spanish means "girl, shut up already!", haha. She'd say it jokingly of course, and then tell me to take a breath because I'd literally been just talking for, well, forever.
If you know me now you'd probably never guess, but I used to be extremely shy when I was younger. So shy that I would be afraid to order my own food at restaurants, ask someone where to find something at the store, or talk to anyone that wasn't a close friend or family. I'm not sure why but every time I would even think about having to talk to someone I didn't personally know, I would be practically paralyzed with fear. So, talking to my mom, and other friends and family, was a reprieve.
I eventually grew out of that shyness, and starting becoming more comfortable talking to other people. Now-a-days, I can talk to anyone, any time, any where (okay, maybe not anyone, but almost anyone!). Sometimes, I just do it a little too much. My brain sometimes works a little too quickly for my mouth, and before I can finish getting out one thought, the next one comes spilling out. I don't mean to be annoying, I don't mean to drone on, I just want to tell you all the things that are on my mind, lol. I ramble because I want you to understand what I'm saying, and I'm trying to give you THE WHOLE story.
If I've ever talked your ear off (and you were too kind to tell me to stfu), I'm sorry. I promise I'm working on it. And if you know someone that's a "talker" or rambles on and on, think about this - maybe they used to be painstakingly shy and are now comfortable with talking to you! Either way I think it's safe to say we can all benefit from talking a little less and listening a little more.
Till next time, as always, keep smiling & stay SUNNY!
